In places in the tantrik tradition, the Krishna avatar of Vishnu is often identified with Kali. This reaches a peak in the Tantrarajatantra, where it is said that having already charmed the world of men as herself, Lalitatook a male form as Krishna and then proceeded to enchant women. Kali is the primary Goddess of Yoga, the background Yoga Shakti, the power of Yoga or Kriya Shakti. She is the power that takes our energy within, which causes us to seek the eternal and lose interest in the ordinary outer affairs of life. She is the electrical stirring of the soul to Divinity. She is the voice of God reverberating within us and the will of God as it works through us, when we let our little self or ego fade into the background. Kali is the power of the great current of awareness. She is also the power that allows the mind to concentrate.

Kali is the great Prana or cosmic life-force, she represents the most primal will of all life, which is to live forever and to never die. This core wish for immortality is not some mere delusion or arrogance within us, it is the very reflection of Sat or pure Being into creation, the portion of the Eternal that is our soul.

Kali represents the most primal desire, which is to love all and be one with all, to find the perfect, pure and eternal love, which is the presence of Shiva, the Eternal Being and Consciousness hidden in all life. Hidden even in ordinary desires is her ascending force to get us to seek something more beautiful and wondrous, to take us beyond our boundaries, to make us unhappy with what we already have, in order to reach a greater reality beyond.

Kali Ma is known as the preserve of Earth, but due to her destructive powers she is also known as “Dark Mother”. The name Kali means She, who is Beyond Time. She is considered as a berserk form ofDurga/Parvati, who is consort of Lord Shiva. Kali Ma is simultaneously portrayed as the giver and destructor of life. However, in most of the interpretations she is portrayed as ferocious and evil. She is the mother of the world and the treasure-house of compassion. She is considered as the primordial mass from which all life arouse.

Who can comprehend the Divine paradox of Mother Kali? Fierce, black in color, large, shimmering eyes, destructive, triumphantly smiling amidst the slaughter of billions of demons, wearing a necklace of skulls and a skirt of severed arms, glowing effulgently like the full moon in the night sky, holding the head of a demon, a Trident that flashes like lightning and a knife etched with sacred mantras and infused with Divine Shakti, Kali stands peaceful and content, suffused with the fragrances of jasmine, rose and sandlewood!

Kali is the Guardian. The Protectress. The Mother. Kali is Dharma and Eternal Time. Kali shines with the brilliance of a Million Black Fires of Dissolution and Her body is bathed in vibuthi (sacred ash). Shiva is under Her Feet and the Great Devotee, Ramprasad, envisioned Kali as stepping upon a demon that was transformed, by Kali's touch, into Lord Shiva Himself!

கோபம் இருக்கும் இடத்தில் குணம் இருக்கும் என்பார்கள்.  குணம் என்றால் எப்பேர்ப்பட்ட குணம்.  அநீதி அக்கிரமம் இவைகளைக் கண்டால் சீறி எழும் குணம்.  இந்த அநீதி அக்கிரமங்களை அடக்க ஒரு ஆள் இருந்தால் தானே நியாயமும் சந்தோஷமும் நிலவ முடியும்.
